Getting Started on HCG
- Unwrap your HCG and place it in the refrigerator. Always keep it cool.
- Read the Quick Start Guide on the last page of the 800 Calorie HCG Diet User’s Manual
- Decide which days will be your 2 binge days. Most people prefer a Saturday and Sunday, and then start the 800 calorie phase 2 plan on Monday. You are free to skip the binge.
- Take the shopping list to your local supermarket and purchase the foods you like, especially fruits and snacks–there are many choices. All are based on calorie content, low sugar and fat, affordability, and availability.
Phase 1: Binge Day(s)
Binge day(s) can be 1 or 2 days or can be skipped.
- Take HCG in the morning before breakfast and again at night. Use the syringe to draw up 0.25 cc (don’t worry about air bubbles, you are not injecting it). Place the drops under your tongue and hold them there for at least 2 minutes. Do not swallow during this time. Do not eat or drink for 15 minutes afterwards.
- Eat some really high fat and high sugar foods (see suggestions in the booklet)
Phase 2: 800 Calorie Days
- Your personal HCG food plan is included in the kit. Follow the guide. When in doubt, sugar should be 2 grams or less, and fat 2 grams or less. The total sugar and fat should not exceed 4 grams. For example, if fat were 3 grams, sugar should be 1 gram or less.
- It takes 2-3 days to stop all hunger. During that time you may be a little hungry. Find a snack that meets the diet’s requirements or have some fruit. You can continue this phase for as long as you like.
- If you intend to do this phase for more than 3 weeks, I suggest you buy a high-quality multivitamin and some oral Vitamin B-12
Using Ketone Sticks to Test for Fat Burning
If you purchased a kit that contains Ketone test strips, you can use them to monitor your fat burning. If your kit does not come with them, Ketone test strips can be purchased at most local pharmacies for around $10.00.
- You can monitor your fat burning by dipping a ketone strip into your first morning urine. After 3 days on Phase 2, it should turn positive with a purple color.
- Ketones are produced when fat is being used for fuel. It is a good way to know if you are eating the correct foods or making mistakes.
- If your urine does not show ketones, re-check your foods – you may be eating or drinking something that contains sugar.
