Amazing Weight Loss with the 800 Calorie HCG Diet Protocol! Is It For You?

The 800 calorie HCG Diet Protocol is a weight loss plan based on taking the HCG hormone either by drops under the tongue or by an injection that increases metabolism and promotes fat burning coupled with a very low carbohydrate diet of 800 calories a day. The result is rapid, safe weight loss. Its not new, in fact HCG for diets  been used since 1954!    It was invented by an English endocrinologist, Dr Simeons who invented the diet when he lived in Rome, Italy.

Original Simeons 500 Calorie HCG Diet:

The original Simeons  diet had a total of only 500 calories a day consisting small portions of lean protein, vegetables, 2 fruits and only a handful of carbs. There was no rice, pasta, potatoes, chips, sugar, certain fruits, desserts, cooking oils, fatty meats, sugar in all forms, bread and all cereals. Breakfast was black coffee or tea, a most an apple!

For some people this is a very significant and difficult change in their foods.  For other people its almost impossible. Few men working outside can live and work on 500 calories a day. On the other hand, many of my patients(especially sedentary women)  can make the change when they see how much weight they can lose. Many patients can easily lose between 5 to 7 lbs per week with a marked reduction in hunger and cravings, and without the need for much exercise (however, exercise is encouraged) on this plan.

800 Calorie HCG Diet- How it Differs from the 500 Calorie Simeons Diet from 1954:

The original Simeons diet was modified 6 years ago: with the addition of 300 calories including a small breakfast, larger protein portions and a few more fruits and vegetables. This proved more tolerable for most dieters. Surprisingly, the weight loss results were not much different than the 500 calorie diet plan. This is not unexpected. Hundreds of very low calorie diet plans show safety and fast weight loss with 800 calories a day. The NIH reviewed hundreds of these reduced calorie diets in 20. 12. Hunger and cravings were found to be much less on the 800 calorie HCG Diet than on the 500 calorie version. Read more about 800 calorie vs. 500 caloire HCG plans.

Dietary Changes: The Simeons Diet was modified with the addition of 300 calories made up of a small high protein breakfast, larger protein portions and a few more fruits and vegetables. This proved more tolerable for most dieters. Surprisingly, the weight loss results were not much different than the 500 calorie diet plan. Hunger and cravings were found to be much less on the 800 calorie HCG Diet than on the 500 calorie version.

Addition of sublingual (under the tongue) HCG Drops: In the original 500 calorie HCG diet the HCG hormone was given by intramuscular injection. Researchers found that the hormone could be administered by suspending the hormone in a liquid that could be placed under the tongue and then absorbed into the blood stream bypassing the need for injections. Weight loss results using this system was also equal to the injection.

What is HCG? A Natural Hormone from Pregnant Women

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, or HCG, is a hormone naturally produced in the body. It has many functions and is used medically to treat a variety of conditions. The HCG hormone is produced a few days after a women becomes pregnant. It originates in the placenta and travels all over the body. If the women does not have enough food for the baby, it acts to dissolve the mothers fat and send the nourishment to the child. This hormone allows the body to metabolize fat and use it as energy for both mother and fetus. This acts as a fail-safe mechanism when energy is needed immediately. The HCG diet combines this natural fat burning hormone with an ultra low carb diet. The HCG is taken either as drops under the tongue or as an intramuscular injection.

The HCG Diet Plans (500 or 800 calorie versions) are Extremely Safe

Women may experience much higher levels of HCG hormone in their blood during pregnancy with no adverse effects. Currently, there are no known established clinical side effects other than occasional weakness and low blood sugar often seen in those who skip meals, and constipation seen in those individuals who do not drink enough water or consume enough fiber.

800 Calorie HCG Food Plan and Appetite Suppression

I believe the key to the appetite suppression is the protein present in every meal and in most snacks in my food plan. Starting with eggs, protein bars, shakes and yogurt at breakfast, and then going to lean protein and lunch, for afternoon snacks and for dinner., 800 Calorie HCG dieters find their blood sugar stabilized throughout the day and that they are almost never hungry. The appetite suppression also is due the the almost total absence of rapidly absorbed carbs as well as the HCG hormone which acts on the appetite center of the brain to prevent hunger and cravings.

HCG Compatible Proteins and Vegetables Produce Fullness For Hours

Eating protein has the effect of producing satiety for most of the day. If you ever have eaten a heavy carbohydrate meal, then you know that carbs can produce intense hunger in a few hours. Protein when combined with small amounts of healthy fats can keep you full for long periods of time. Eating eggs is the best example of protein producing fullness. Most of my patients have learned that eating 2 eggs at breakfast (13-14 grams of protein) results in fullness most of the day and making better food choices. Egg yolks also contain lutein and xenazanthin which supports eye function. Choline in eggs supports brain function, especially memory.

My recipe book presents hundreds of high protein, zero sugar and low fat recipes suitable for this plan. When you purchase an HCG kit, you can download it for free.

Green Vegetables Including Broccoli and Cauliflower also have appetite suppressing effects. These vegetables are very bulky and when eaten stretch the stomach. Stretching the stomach produces chemicals which travel to the brain and produce fullness.

800 Calorie HCG Snacks Produce Fullness and Control Blood Sugar

Unlike most HCG food plans, Dr Lipman’s plan is full of snacks which also produce fullness by stabilization of blood sugar and fullness. Not any snack is acceptable. The best snacks are high protein, zero or near zero sugar and fat that come in portion controlled containers. EXTEND bars and shakes( originally made for diabetics and found in the diabetic section of most grocery stores and pharmacies) are among the ideal snacks. Fruits provide just the right amount of carbs so that there is instant energy and meal staying power. Many examples of snacks are provided.

The 800 HCG Diet  Protocol  Prevents Cravings

Cravings, an intense desire for a particular type of food, occurring independent of hunger, can ruin any attempt at weight loss. The 800 HCG Food plan is actually a craving control diet. Most patients I treat, are delighted when they feel in control of their cravings for sweets. The more control, the easier is the weight loss. In addition to the fruits and vegetables, my food plan offers many low carb processed foods appropriate for the HCG diet. All of the products contain 2 grams of sugar and 2 grams of fat or less. I call these foods, the “look-a likes”–they look, taste, smell and feel like the originals. Snacking on these foods on a regular basis prevents reaching for the really bad foods that surround everyone almost all of the time.
